USAT LIBERTY WRECKThe USAT Liberty Wreck lies on its starboard side about 40 metres from the pebble beach in Tulamben Bay. The stern starts at around 5 metres depth, while the deepest part of the wreck reaches about 30 metres. Although the ship is no longer fully intact, many sections such as the rudder, boilers, cargo holds, and bow are still clearly recognizable.
Today the wreck is covered with coral and full of marine life, from mantis shrimps and pygmy seahorses to colorful angelfish - making it one of the most famous and unforgettable dives in Bali. |
DROP OFFThe Village Temple sits high on a headland at the south east end of Tulamben Bay. The headland is composed of volcanic rock from an old eruprion of Mount Agung. The ‘Drop Off’ is a series of underwater lava flows that fan-out from this headland.
The reef descends to over 70 metres in a very short distance from the shore. This area is often used as an alternative to diving the Liberty wreck, yet it is far from a second rate dive. Its diversity of marine life is staggering, from miniscule frogfish to monstrous sunfish. From translucent shrimps to giant trevally - the Drop Off is a very rich reef with an easy beach entry for divers. |
CORAL GARDENLying between the Liberty Wreck and the Drop-Off, is a long stretch of shallow reef that follows the shoreline for around 150 metres. The Coral garden is a rich reef, popular with underwater photographers. It is renown for almost guaranteed sightings of critters that are rare elsewhere; Harlequin Ghost Pipefish, Ribbon Eels, Leaf Scorpion Fish and at night – Spanish Dancer Nudibranchs. It is also a great place to see schools of trevally, snapper and sweetlip or perhaps a cruising Black-Tip Shark. Depths range from 3-25 metres. This site is also known as Paradise Reef.

SERAYA SECRETSSeraya Secrets is a famous muck diving site located in the bay southeast of Tulamben, directly in front of Scuba Seraya Resort. Although the site may look simple from the surface, it is well known for its incredible variety of rare and unusual marine life.
The dive site has two main areas. Top Secrets (3–9 metres) features small rocks and black sand where divers can find frogfish, eels, scorpionfish, lionfish, sea moths, and harlequin shrimp. Deep Secrets (10–35 metres) is a sloping sandy bottom with small outcrops that host pygmy seahorses, cuttlefish, mimic octopus, nudibranchs, and many other fascinating critters. With visibility around 10–15 metres, Seraya Secrets is one of the best macro diving sites in Tulamben. |
KUBU REEFKubu Reef is located near Kubu village a few kilometres west of Tulamben. A sealed road leads from the centre of the village down to the shore. At its end is a basic dive preparation area and directly offshore are two dive sites, both accessible from the shore. Looking straight offshore, one is off to the left, the other slightly to the right. Both sites require a 50 metres swim out to deeper water, though the swim is over picturesque shallow reefs. The 'left' reef has a large area of delicate branching corals starting at the edge of the deeper water. Beyond depths of 15 metres are large barrel sponges and one huge gorgonia fan. The 'right' reef has large coral covered rocks and bommies in the shallows and deeper is a ridge with very rich soft coral growth. Both areas have fantastic fish and invertebrate life, with regular shark, barracuda and larger fish sightings.

ALAM ANDAAlam Anda is a dive site located just outside Tulamben Bay, around the headland from the Drop-Off. The site is accessed by a short 5-minute boat ride in a traditional Balinese jukung, offering beautiful views of Mount Agung and the coastline.
Divers descend along a steep rocky reef covered with gorgonian fans and soft corals, where many reef fish and passing pelagic species can be seen. Depths start at around 6 metres and continue far deeper along the reef slope. After the dive, divers return to the jukung for the short boat ride back to Tulamben. |
BATU KELEBIT
Batu Kelebit is a dive site located a few hundred metres from Alam Anda, marked by several rocks rising above the surface. The reef drops steeply to depths of 30–50 metres, where sharks, barracuda, and other pelagic fish are sometimes seen.
Unlike the black volcanic sand inside Tulamben Bay, Batu Kelebit features white sand between coral outcrops and healthy coral reefs. The shallows are filled with hard corals, damselfish, anthias, and occasionally bumphead parrotfish. Large sea cucumbers, mantis shrimps, and lionfish can also be found around the reef. Like Alam Anda, this site is reached by a short jukung boat ride from Tulamben Bay. |
